Tulsa Tea Party Founder Endorses Nathan Dahm For US Congress Ok District 1

Tulsa Tea Party founder, Jai Blevins, today announces his endorsement of Nathan Dahm in the GOP Primary for Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District.

Mr. Dahm has set himself apart from the other candidates, including incumbent John Sullivan, though his Oath to Oklahoma, a pledge that includes commitments to a self-imposed term limit, refusal of Congressional perks, working to protect the 2nd Amendment, and working to Audit, and end, the Federal Reserve. Mr. Dahm has been a supporter of, and involved in, the Tea Party Movement in the Tulsa area, since it’sinception on Feb 27, 2009. He believes in, and stands for the ideals of the Tea Party, and is the candidate for the Tulsa Tea party.

I urge everyone to visit his website, and read his positions on the issues affecting America, and I believe that you will agree.

Rick Brinkley’s Parents Violated Campaign Contribution Rules!!

Seal of Oklahoma.
Image via Wikipedia

Came across some interesting information, while checking campaign donation records, this week.

According to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission website

13. What are the maximum contribution limits?

A family may give a maximum of $5,000 to a state candidate committee for an entire campaign and $5,000 annually to a person, committee or party supporting or opposing candidates. A family is defined as an individual, his or her spouse, if any, and all children under the age of eighteen (18) years residing in the same household. Corporations and labor organizations are prohibited from contributing to any committee supporting or opposing candidates. Other business entities, without corporations as owners, may contribute if they have no corporate owners, but the percentage ownership amount of the contribution is applied to the owner’s family limit. Under the Rules, a political party may give up to $50,000 to its gubernatorial candidate and up to $25,000 to any other statewide candidate; however, statutes set the limit from a party at $5,000. Exceeding this amount would constitute a criminal violation. There are no limits on contributions from a person, corporation, or labor organization to committees supporting or opposing ballot measures.

However, Mr. Brinkley’s parents, Don and Carolyn Brinkley, each gave a contribution of $5000 to his campaign, for a total of $10000. This is a clear violation of the Campaign Finance laws of Oklahoma.

Rick Brinkley Donations Record

When contacted, the ethics commission said that this isn’t a “big enough” race for them to bother doing anything about it. I find that response appalling! I’m not sure what else can be done about this, except for Oklahoma Republicans to stand up on July 27th, and vote for RINO Rick. Brinkley’s opponent, Tim Coager, for Oklahoma Senate District 34.

Fried Chicken Dinner is Racist!?!?

The Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus, has issued a statement criticizing State Senator, and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate, Randy Brogdon, for a statement he made this week, in debate over the Oklahoma Freedom of Healthcare Choice Act.

Brogdon made the argument, on Tuesday, that the Federal Government

“has no more authority to tell Oklahomans where to buy health insurance than it does to tell them where to buy a fried chicken dinner.”

Democrat Senator Tom Adelson, questioned Brogdon’s use of fried chicken dinner, to which Brogdon replied that is what he had eaten for lunch. However, the Democrats in the State Senate, and particularly, the Legislative Black Caucus, took exception to Brogdon’s statement, claiming that he was making a racial reference to President Obama.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! They are going to try to use a statement about Federal Government overreach, and turn it into a racial argument?! I am sick and tired of the “PC Police” trying to make everything about race.

The real question is, why are they trying to change the focus of the debate? Is it because, as usual, Senator Brogdon has the Constitutional “high ground” in this debate? Or, is it because the Democrats realize something, that the Republicans are only beginning to understand?

The real threat to the Democrat Party in the Governor’s race, is not Mary Fallin, whom they have been attacking on her “stimulus hypocrisy”, and dividing time between her job as Congresswoman and running for Governor. The real threat, is Randy Brogdon, who continues to gain support, aand climb in the polls, while Mary Fallin, and the 2 Democrat Candidates, Drew Edmondson, and Jeri Askins, continue to slide against him, despite much greater statewide name recognition.

The truth is, both the Democrats, and the “status quo” within the Republican Party Establishment, fear Brogdon’s popularity within the Tea Party Movement, and in Constitutional and Libertarian circles.

That is why the Democrats have started attacking him, and the Oklahoma State GOP is nowhere to be found in this bit of low-brow, racial politics!

Official Endorsement of the Founder of the Tulsa Teaparty: Governor

DSC_4798

This post will start my series of official endorsements of candidates for many offices throughout the state, including Statewide, Regional, and Local races. Each of these posts will include personal, as well as, tangible reasons for my endorsements. Each of the candidates that I endorse, will have been personally vetted, by me, and are the candidates that I truly believe, embody the ideals of the Tulsa Tea Party, as well as, the Tea Party Movement, in general.

Each candidate that I endorse, will also receive a recommendation to several national groups, including the American Liberty Alliance, the Americans for Prosperity, Tea Party Patriots, Freedom Works, and several other groups, with which I am affiliated, or have connections to.

My first official endorsement will come as no surprise to those who read my blog.

For Governor of Oklahoma, I am endorsing State Senator Randy Brogdon!

Randy Brogdon has been a staunch supporter of, and involved in, the Tea Party Movement, since the very beginning. He was one of the first speakers at the first Tea Party in Tulsa, on February 27, 20o9. Since then, he has spoken at numerous Tea Party events, throughout the state of Oklahoma.

His message has never wavered, and remains one that is easy for the Tea Party to get behind. It is a message of Liberty, Freedom, a strict adherence to the US & Oklahoma Constitutions, and Limited Government. It is a message, not of Revolution, but of RESTORATION.

As Randy says,

One common thread woven throughout humanity is the innate desire to be free. Our nation is blessed because liberty is one of the basic rights given to us by God. As freedom expands, the natural order demands that government’s role decreases in our society and personal lives. Freedom is not guaranteed and we all must play our part to protect it and pass it on to the next generation.

Randy is a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment, with a true understanding of the purpose of our Right to Bear Arms! The Gun Owners of America, the nations 2nd Largest Gun Rights Advocacy Group, has endorsed Randy. He has also authored a bill to protect all firearms, and ammunition, manufactured and sold, within the State of Oklahoma, from any Federal regulations that attempt to infringe on our 2nd Amendment Rights.

“I am one of the few elected officials,” says Brogdon, “who truly understands what the Second Amendment is all about. It’s not about a turkey shoot, or a quail hunt, it’s really not even about me being able to protect myself from you, or vice versa. The Second Amendment states that you and I have theright to bear arms in the event that the federal government gets out of control.”

Randy is also a leader in the 10th Amendment battle to defend States’ Rights. He authored SJR10, otherwise known as, the 1oth Amendment Resolution, in 2008, designed to protect states rights and prevent the federal government from overexerting its legislative power. Thanks to his work on the 10th Amendment Initiative, he was invited to speak to the Pennsylvania State Legislature, in March 2009.

Senator Brogdon’s message of a return to our Constitutional principles is best summed up in this statement

Standing up for the Constitution has never been the easy way out, but I believe it’s the ONLY way out!

Oklahoma needs a governor who has a record of standing standing up to the  federal government. Oklahoma MUST have a leader who not only understands the states rights and the limitations of the federal government, but who will stand against the status quo to protect their freedom!

That is why, as the founder of the Tulsa Tea Party, I feel that the ONLY choice for our next Governor is Randy Brogdon!

State House Trying To Add Another Toll Road to I-44 in Tulsa

600 mm by 600 mm (24 in by 24 in) Interstate s...Image via Wikipedia

Our “conservativeRepublican Speaker of the House, here in Oklahoma, Chris Benge, has introduced a piece of legislation that should have everyone in the Tulsa area seeing RED!”

Speaker Benge has introduced into committee, HB 3220, which creates a new Turnpike in Tulsa. Here are the details of this bill:

Session of the 52nd Legislature

Bill No.: HB3220

Version: Introduced

Author: Speaker Benge

Date: 2/16/2010

Impact: Pending

Bill Summary

Research Analyst: Brad Wolgamott

The measure authorizes the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to establish a new turnpike beginning at Interstate 44 near its intersection with 49th West Avenue, past State Highway 64/412, turning northeasterly, crossing 41st West Avenue, and continuing eastward to the L.L. Tisdale Expressway in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

It’s time to call a spade a spade! Speaker Benge is a RINO, who has led a GOP Majority in the State House, down the road of a Liberal, Tax and Spend philosophy, which has been no better than the previous, Democrat-led, regime!

He had a Conservative Rating of just 40 for 2009 and a cumulative, Lifetime Rating of just 66! How can this man even call himself a Republican?! We need to let him know what we think of his record, and this bill!

Please, EVERYONE, call his office, 405-557-7430 and tell them that the Tea Party has Representative Benge in the Crosshairs, and unless he pulls this Bill, he will NEVER hold office, as a Republican, in the State of Oklahoma Again!

Interesting Race for Oklahoma’s US House District 1

"Republican Party Elephant" logoImage via Wikipedia

The Tulsa County GOP Straw Poll results were released yesterday, and the numbers for US House District 1 are very interesting.

U.S. Congress District 1

John Sullivan 52.9%

Nathan Dahm 26.6

Fran Moghaddam 1.5

Undecided 13.3

Not My District 5.7

Now, at first glance, these numbers look really strong for the incumbent John Sullivan. The meeting could be perceived as hostile territory, considering the undercurrent amongst the grassroots, against him.
However, I disagree with the take that the numbers aren’t bad for Sullivan. He has been campaigning HARD for the last month, and Nathan Dahm, the most conservative, Tea Party candidate, hasn’t even really started. Most of those in attendance didn’t even know that Sullivan was being challenged, prior to the event this past Saturday. That indicates to me, that, even with a HUGE name recognition advantage, and at least 10 volunteer staffers in attendance, Sullivan is having difficulty drawing support.
Also, these numbers show that he is vulnerable. Don’t be surprised if several others jump into the race, now. Including, Scott Pruitt. I don’t have anything solid on that, but I am hearing rumblings!
It should be an interesting race. And, at the very least, a lot less comfortable for John Sullivan than he though it would be a year ago!
