Fried Chicken Dinner is Racist!?!?

The Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus, has issued a statement criticizing State Senator, and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate, Randy Brogdon, for a statement he made this week, in debate over the Oklahoma Freedom of Healthcare Choice Act.

Brogdon made the argument, on Tuesday, that the Federal Government

“has no more authority to tell Oklahomans where to buy health insurance than it does to tell them where to buy a fried chicken dinner.”

Democrat Senator Tom Adelson, questioned Brogdon’s use of fried chicken dinner, to which Brogdon replied that is what he had eaten for lunch. However, the Democrats in the State Senate, and particularly, the Legislative Black Caucus, took exception to Brogdon’s statement, claiming that he was making a racial reference to President Obama.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! They are going to try to use a statement about Federal Government overreach, and turn it into a racial argument?! I am sick and tired of the “PC Police” trying to make everything about race.

The real question is, why are they trying to change the focus of the debate? Is it because, as usual, Senator Brogdon has the Constitutional “high ground” in this debate? Or, is it because the Democrats realize something, that the Republicans are only beginning to understand?

The real threat to the Democrat Party in the Governor’s race, is not Mary Fallin, whom they have been attacking on her “stimulus hypocrisy”, and dividing time between her job as Congresswoman and running for Governor. The real threat, is Randy Brogdon, who continues to gain support, aand climb in the polls, while Mary Fallin, and the 2 Democrat Candidates, Drew Edmondson, and Jeri Askins, continue to slide against him, despite much greater statewide name recognition.

The truth is, both the Democrats, and the “status quo” within the Republican Party Establishment, fear Brogdon’s popularity within the Tea Party Movement, and in Constitutional and Libertarian circles.

That is why the Democrats have started attacking him, and the Oklahoma State GOP is nowhere to be found in this bit of low-brow, racial politics!

Brogdon: “One honest voice can make a difference.”

State Senator, and GOP Gubernatorial Candidate, Randy Brogdon, spoke at the monthly meeting of the Tulsa Republican‘s Club, on Friday. Following his chief rival for the nomination, Congresswoman Mary Fallin, who spoke at last month’s meeting, his message was starkly different.

While Fallin talked about “Republican Unity”, and called the States Rights‘ movement “extreme”,  Brogdon continued to push his Limited Government, and Personal Freedom, platform.

Promising to shake up Oklahoma‘s state government, if elected, Brogdon said

“If you like what we have in Oklahoma, I’m not your guy,”

He went on to talk about the problems, our Nation as a whole.

“Today our freedom is being stripped away from us,” he said. “Consider the land grabs we have seen take place. The abuse of eminent domain, the lack of border control, the invasion of illegal aliens, the threat of the North American Union, the NAFTA Superhighway, the Real ID Act — all taking our freedoms away.”

And the problems facing the State of Oklahoma, like the $1.3 Billion budget shortfall for the 2010 Fiscal Year. Brogdon has been openly critical of the use of the “rainy day fund”, and federal stimulus monies, to close that gap, stating that the “rainy day fund” was never intended to be used on budgeted items, and the stimulus is Unconstitutional.

“We need to cut $1.3 Billion in spending, then we’ll talk”

His answer to these problems, is a return to limited government, personal responsibility, and individual freedom. The State of Oklahoma

“suffers from a lack of leadership, especially in the governor’s office”

Once considered a “long-shot”, Senator Brogdon is gaining fast in the GOP Primary race, and is already running a dead heat with his likely Democrat foes, according to a recent Rasmussen poll.

Should Mary Fallin Quit Governor’s Race?

{{w|Mary Fallin}}, member of the United States...

In a poll conducted on this site over the last week, I asked the question,

What Should Mary Fallin Do?

  • Continue serving in Congress, while campaigning for Governor
  • Resign from Congress and Campaign full-time
  • Drop out of Governor’s Race, and Focus on doing her job in Congress

Well, I have closed the poll, and the results have been tabulated.

61% feel that Mary Fallin Should Drop Out of the Governor’s Race, and Focus on Doing Her Job in Congress!

While only 30% felt she should continue to both run for Governor, and serve in Congress, and only 9% think she should resign from Congress, and focus on her run for Governor.

I happen to agree with the majority of the voters on this one. We DESPERATELY need her to be in Washington, voting against Obamacare, Cap and Trade, Amnesty, and any other of the Socialist bills that Pelosi, Reid, and Obama try to ram thru! Not trekking all over Oklahoma, trying to win the GOP nomination, only to lose the General election.

The Democrats have already started their attack campaign! They have sent out press releases calling her a “Stimulus Hypocrite”. They have sent out emails, and tweets, complaining that she’s not in DC for critical votes, and then have attacked her for getting involved in trying to persuade people in other states to campaign against Obamacare, instead of focusing on Oklahoma’s issue.

I have it on good authority, that if Mary Fallin wins the GOP nomination, this is going to be the tactic they use against her. If she stays in Congress, they will say she doesn’t “care enough about Oklahoma.” If she resigns, they will attack her for not being “dedicated enough to finish the job she was elected to do.” And, they will pound her on voting “NO” on the Stimulus, but then earmarking monies from the Stimulus, and bragging about how good it has been for Oklahoma.

Mary Fallin, despite good polling numbers, has put herself in a position, where she can’t win. Her numbers are falling, and all of her chief rivals numbers are climbing against her.

Please, Representative Fallin, quit the race for Governor, and go focus on the job at hand, in Washington!

Official Endorsement of the Founder of the Tulsa Teaparty: Governor

DSC_4798

This post will start my series of official endorsements of candidates for many offices throughout the state, including Statewide, Regional, and Local races. Each of these posts will include personal, as well as, tangible reasons for my endorsements. Each of the candidates that I endorse, will have been personally vetted, by me, and are the candidates that I truly believe, embody the ideals of the Tulsa Tea Party, as well as, the Tea Party Movement, in general.

Each candidate that I endorse, will also receive a recommendation to several national groups, including the American Liberty Alliance, the Americans for Prosperity, Tea Party Patriots, Freedom Works, and several other groups, with which I am affiliated, or have connections to.

My first official endorsement will come as no surprise to those who read my blog.

For Governor of Oklahoma, I am endorsing State Senator Randy Brogdon!

Randy Brogdon has been a staunch supporter of, and involved in, the Tea Party Movement, since the very beginning. He was one of the first speakers at the first Tea Party in Tulsa, on February 27, 20o9. Since then, he has spoken at numerous Tea Party events, throughout the state of Oklahoma.

His message has never wavered, and remains one that is easy for the Tea Party to get behind. It is a message of Liberty, Freedom, a strict adherence to the US & Oklahoma Constitutions, and Limited Government. It is a message, not of Revolution, but of RESTORATION.

As Randy says,

One common thread woven throughout humanity is the innate desire to be free. Our nation is blessed because liberty is one of the basic rights given to us by God. As freedom expands, the natural order demands that government’s role decreases in our society and personal lives. Freedom is not guaranteed and we all must play our part to protect it and pass it on to the next generation.

Randy is a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment, with a true understanding of the purpose of our Right to Bear Arms! The Gun Owners of America, the nations 2nd Largest Gun Rights Advocacy Group, has endorsed Randy. He has also authored a bill to protect all firearms, and ammunition, manufactured and sold, within the State of Oklahoma, from any Federal regulations that attempt to infringe on our 2nd Amendment Rights.

“I am one of the few elected officials,” says Brogdon, “who truly understands what the Second Amendment is all about. It’s not about a turkey shoot, or a quail hunt, it’s really not even about me being able to protect myself from you, or vice versa. The Second Amendment states that you and I have theright to bear arms in the event that the federal government gets out of control.”

Randy is also a leader in the 10th Amendment battle to defend States’ Rights. He authored SJR10, otherwise known as, the 1oth Amendment Resolution, in 2008, designed to protect states rights and prevent the federal government from overexerting its legislative power. Thanks to his work on the 10th Amendment Initiative, he was invited to speak to the Pennsylvania State Legislature, in March 2009.

Senator Brogdon’s message of a return to our Constitutional principles is best summed up in this statement

Standing up for the Constitution has never been the easy way out, but I believe it’s the ONLY way out!

Oklahoma needs a governor who has a record of standing standing up to the  federal government. Oklahoma MUST have a leader who not only understands the states rights and the limitations of the federal government, but who will stand against the status quo to protect their freedom!

That is why, as the founder of the Tulsa Tea Party, I feel that the ONLY choice for our next Governor is Randy Brogdon!

Should Mary Fallin Resign from Congress?

{{w|Mary Fallin}}, member of the United States...

It looks like Congress Woman Mary Fallin is beginning to draw fire for decision to run for Governor, while continuing to serve in the US House of Representatives. The first instances of this that I saw were on Twitter, posted by the Oklahoma Democrat Party (@okdemocrats on twitter.com)

Hey, isn’t the House in session today? RT @MaryFallin Beautiful day for a road trip! Heading to Clinton, Elk City & Sayre for campaign stops

US House is back in session today, but Mary Fallin is taking a “road trip” with her campaign. Why isn’t she in DC doing her job? #okgov

Fallin’s not even appearing with nat’l GOP chair Michael Steele, who’s in OK today. She says party first, but not even they care about her.

But here’s where Mary ought to be: http://bit.ly/dgTCAS RT @MaryFallin Dropped by the National Route 66 Museum in Elk City. Very cool!

Oklahoman picks up on Mary Fallin’s “road trip” – and her missed vote to fund the roads she was cruising:http://bit.ly/cdzruB #okgov

The last post, refers to the article in the Daily Oklahoma, the Mike McCarville, of the McCarville Report, talks about here.

McCarville writes,

The Oklahoman’s Chris Casteel is tracking Congresswoman Mary Fallin’s attendance record as she also campaigns for governor.

Writing on the newspaper’s blog, Casteel reports the following:

U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, R-Oklahoma City, returned to Washington on Wednesday and cast her first votes in the House this month, after missing 20 votes in March while campaigning for governor.

Fallin was “tweeting” from the campaign trail in western Oklahoma on Tuesday, as the House was in session.

She missed three votes and an Armed Services subcommittee hearing about how the children of military personnel are affected by their parents’ deployments.

Last week, she missed a hearing in the same subcomittee in which the panel heard from the military officials in charge of doing a detailed study of how the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell would affect the armed forces.

Through Tuesday, Fallin had missed 31 of the 92 votes cast in 2010.

Most of the votes were on non-controversial bills, such as congratulating the New Orleans Saints for winning the Super Bowl. But last week, Fallin, an advocate for small business and for road-building, missed the vote on a bill that would extend federal highway through the end of the year and offer new tax incentives to small businesses.

In an interview in November about how she would balance her job in Congress with campaigning for governor, Fallin said she would miss some votes.

She said she didn’t consider resigning her House seat to campaign. Katie Bruns, Fallin’s communications director in Washington, said Wednesday that Fallin “is working two full-time jobs right now _ representing the state’s 5th district and running to become Oklahoma’s next governor. It is going to be a delicate balance to ensure she makes as many votes as possible while sharing her plan to create more and better jobs with Oklahoma’s working families and small businesses. “Mary has only missed 4.2% of votes this Congress and missed less than one percent of House votes between 2006 and 2009. Of her missed votes this year, most included post office namings, sports team congratulations and several other congressional recognitions.” Bruns’ reference to the 4.2 percent of votes in this Congress includes all of the votes cast in 2009. A Congress has two sessions. Bruns said, “Mary believes the next election for governor is an important one for the state and takes her service to Oklahoma seriously, and that means she’ll need to spend time in Oklahoma along with her time in Washington.”

What struck me, is the fact that Rep. Fallin has missed 2o votes in March, already, and 31 of 92 in 2010. Apparently, she is having trouble balancing her campaign, and her Responsibility to represent the people of Oklahoma.

Campaigning is going to take more of her time, as the race continues to get tighter. So far, she isn’t even debating her major rivals, or doing any of the really hard campaigning, and yet she doesn’t have enough time to do her job, and make sure she is in Washington, for crucial votes, and important meetings and votes in the Armed Services subcommittee, which she is so proud of being part of.

It’s time for Mary to make a choice. She needs to either resign her seat in Congress, or drop out of the Governor’s race, one or the other! You can’t serve two masters!

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 1:8

A “Bounded” Lack of Understanding of the 2nd Amendment

Cropped version of Thomas Jefferson, painted b...
Image via Wikipedia

After the Gun Owners of America came out with their endorsement of Randy Brogdon for Governor of Oklahoma, I came across an interesting post from a fellow Tulsa area blogger. On the Bounded Rationality Blog, writer Jeff Shaw quotes Senator Brogdon on the 2nd Amendment,

“I am one of the few elected officials,” says Brogdon, “who truly understands what the Second Amendment is all about. It’s not about a turkey shoot, or a quail hunt, it’s really not even about me being able to protect myself from you, or vice versa. The Second Amendment states that you and I have the right to bear arms in the event that the federal government gets out of control.”

Now, those of you who are students of Classical Constitutionalism, like myself, know that Senator Brogdon is interpreting this based on the writings of our Founding Fathers, on this subject.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.-Thomas Jefferson

Apparently, Mr. Shaw has never seen that quote, for he states, in an almost frightened and conspiratorial manner,

There is no doubt that there has been wide interpretation of the Second Amendment, but I have to be honest when I say that I’ve never heard Mr. Brogdon’s interpretation above. Ever. I will further admit, I don’t get around much. I would ask for an explanation, but frankly the statement sounds self explanatory.

Mr. Shaw goes on to make this statement, which really bothers me,

I’ll just say for the record, I won’t be supporting any candidate for office that

1. Is willing to overthrow the government of the United States of America, and/or
2. Would even imply as much in a campaign, and/or
3. Suggests that the Second Amendment is a constitutional guarantee written for the purpose of overthrowing of the Government of the United States of America. (See also, Article I §8 of the U.S. Constitution.)

He quotes the Constitution here, but obviously has a limited understanding of it, or at the very least, of the context of the 2nd Amendment.

Personally, I would like to see a public retraction of his criticism of Mr. Brogdon, on this issue, as would, I’m sure, most Liberty loving citizens!

Mr. Shaw, please, before writing something so obviously knee-jerk, do just a little bit of research!

As you so eloquently stated in the comments on your post,

1. The Second Amendment
2. Allows you and I
3. To bear arms
4. In the event,
5. The federal government gets out of control.

That IS PRECISELY what the Framers of the Constitution meant when they wrote

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
